Sedum rupestre, also known as Reflexed Stonecrop, Blue Spruce Stonecrop, or sometimes just Sedum, is a hardy, low-growing perennial succulent in the Crassulaceae family. Native to mountainous regions of Europe, this plant is prized for its attractive foliage and ability to thrive in poor soils and dry conditions.

Sedum rupestre forms dense, mat-like clumps of fleshy, needle-like leaves that resemble the needles of a blue spruce tree — typically bluish-green or gray-green in color, though some cultivars (like 'Angelina') display vibrant chartreuse or golden hues. It spreads easily by creeping stems, making it a popular choice for ground cover, rock gardens, borders, and containers.

In summer, it produces small, star-shaped yellow flowers that attract bees and other pollinators. The plant is drought-tolerant, cold-hardy (USDA zones 3–9), and requires minimal maintenance. It prefers full sun and well-draining soil, and it's an excellent option for xeriscaping or green roofs.

Due to its attractive texture, color, and resilience, Sedum rupestre is widely used in both ornamental landscaping and erosion control. It's also deer-resistant and easy to propagate by stem cuttings.
