Cat Palm

The Cat Palm (Chamaedorea cataractarum) thrives in USDA zones 10-11, making it ideal for warm indoor environments or shaded outdoor landscaping. Growing moderately at about 1 to 3 feet tall, it prefers indirect light and well-draining soil. Cat Palms require consistent moisture but should not be waterlogged, and benefit from monthly fertilizing during the growing season. Their elegant, arching fronds add a tropical feel indoors or in shaded garden areas. A fun fact: despite its name, the Cat Palm is not related to true palm cats but earned its name due to the shape of its leaves reminiscent of a cat’s ears.
